Kickstart This!

Hey guys, remember when I posted about R. Stevens' Diesel Sweeties Kickstarter project?  Well I thought I'd do a quick post to highlight a few other neat projects that I have/am excited to back.  There are some really good ones right now.

So here are my top 5 of the moment, in no particular order:

This art book will share the love stories of couples who have been married for at least 50 years. Inspired by a letter her grandfather wrote to her grandmother during World War II (and rediscovered after he passed away in 2007), Laura began photographing and interviewing couples in the New York area as a way to preserve their stories and to illuminate our universal experience of love.

I can't even tell you how adorable and touching the sample photos and stories are -- you should check out this project!

2. Vegan Events App

What if all of your city’s vegan festivals, food tours, Meetup outings, vegan potlucks and more were listed in one convenient place? WORLDWIDE!!!  Well that's what this app proposes to do!

It will provide a centralized list of vegan events available and a website directory.  The app will be free and allow the user to search events by city and/or event date.  Event details as well as optional comments and rankings will be available. Events can easily be submitted to the directory from the mobile app.

3. The Found Poetry Project

I live for found objects!  This project, in short, is the art of excerpting words and phrases from any written source and combining them in new ways to form a poem.

With backer support, the Found Poetry Project will create 250 found poetry kits to be distributed in communities across the United States during National Poetry Month in April that will help people create their own found poems.

They are currently creating a website where people can learn more about the project.  It's not up yet but you should definitely check back.

4. Zombie Kitchen

Cassie Kelly has designed some clever kitchen accessories around a zombie theme, that include a decaying hand oven mitt and a wounded torso apron.

5. 100 Paintings in 100 Days

In 2007, painter Arielle Sandler, created a series of paintings called 100 Paintings in 100 Days that was rather successful.  She plans on doing a 2012 series around the same theme but she would also like to re-produce her work and make prints available for purchase in "notecardPAINTINGS" sets.  Each set will contain 7 notecards and envelopes.  The interior of each card will be blank, and the front will feature a hand-mounted photo of a 100x100 painting.

Here is a a sample from her 2007 series to give you an idea of her style of painting:

I'm beyond excited to receive my pledge packages for the Found Poetry and Love Ever After projects.  Are you backing any projects you think I'd be interested in?  Are you currently looking to have a project backed on Kickstarter?

Have a happy Friday!

Alex & Arthur
