My birthday is this Saturday and I thought I'd buy myself an early present -- a new phone!! Well, a replacement phone because this happened to my iPhone yesterday.

My co-worker took this with her phone -- she's not so great with the concept of focusing |
I
was in the bathroom at work (not using my phone while on the toilet) when the cleaning
lady accidentally knocked my purse off the counter, my phone flew out and cracked
against the tiled floor.
Luckily my phone still worked so I used it, broken shards of glass and all, and did my best to read through the cracks. I'm pretty sure I now have a tiny glass shard in my eye...from touching my eye afterwards, not from pressing my face up against the screen.
I went to the Apple Store this morning; I was able to buy a replacement phone at a reduced price and while the process was rather painless, it wasn't something I wanted to do. Breaking my iphone screen was a huge bummer as I did the same thing to my iPad screen less than two weeks ago. Still have to get that fixed...
So lessons I've learned from this incident:
- Write phone numbers somewhere. I was still at work so I could have easily called from my desk phone.
- After touching tiny shards of glass, wash hand thoroughly
- Don't leave my purse on the edge of a countertop
- Back phone up more often if I plan on keeping my life on it.
Do you rely entirely too much on your phone? Not having a phone became almost like a survival situation for me -- my Hunger Games if you will. I felt lost -- how am I supposed to find anything without the internet or google maps? It was pathetic really, but I guess that's just the world we live in now.
Hope you had a better Tuesday than me.
