Take a Gander Tuesday #8 - Jessica Rae Gordon

Work =  crazy right now.  But we did just have a long weekend, so I was able to prepare some blog posts and I'm almost finished some new nail art (they're pretty tight butthole...*hint*)

On the weekend, I was looking for Archer (the TV show) illustrations/art on Etsy to find something for a gift.  Using "Archer" as your search word also finds listings related to Archery.  One of the archery illustrations led me to the work of Jessica Rae Gordon who, small world, also lives in Toronto.

Here are a few pieces that are listed in her Etsy shop that caught my eye:

Hope everyone had a great weekend! (and for my Canadian friends, a good Victoria Day)

Take a Gander Tuesday - #7 (Roxy Marj)

Today I wanted to share the blog Roma Winkel with you because it's awesome and I thoroughly enjoy the illustrations of Roxy Marj.  Just look at the drawing on the "about" page -- plus she likes collecting tiny objects that fit in the palm of her hand, so she's also a pretty cool person.

Roxy Marj also has an etsy shop where you can buy her wonderful illustrations/creations.

Her husband also has a blog, where he's posted his crazy good illustrations/photography.

Check it out!

In other news, here's an adorable photo of Arthur and his girlfriend Gertie (who you've seen before dressed as a toaster) that I got from his daycare's instagram feed.

Take a Gander Tuesday #6 - elaine ho jewelry

Today I wanted to share with you Elaine Ho's jewelry.  I'm actually flabbergasted that I've never posted anything about elaine ho's work or shop before.  I spent a good 10 minutes searching my blog for any mention of her because I was 100% certain that I posted about her work before.  Apparently I didn't, but I'm correcting that right now!

I've posted about one of my favourite stores, Labour of Love, here, which is where I buy most of my elaine ho pieces.  If I had to guess, I'd say about 80% of my jewelry collection was made by elaine ho...in fact, I'm wearing two of her pieces right now.

Thought I'd just share some favourites from my collection but definitely go check out her etsy shop and wesbite!

I'm a sucker for sterling silver jewelry
I follow elaine's Twitter and Instagram feeds.  I definitely recommend that you check out both.  She's been posting pictures of her newer work (it's awesome! I've been eyeing her most recently completed rings), plus she has super adorable cats.

Thanks for stopping by!

Take A Gander Tuesday - #4

For this week's Take a Gander Tuesday, I want to direct you to the work of Blair J. Campbell - Artist, Geek, and Distinguished Gentlemen.

I follow Mr. Campbell's Instagram and Twitter and thoroughly enjoy checking out his latest illustrations or additions to his RedBubble store. He also has adorable dogs that make frequent appearances on his instragram feed....just pointing that out in case the illustrations aren't enough to persuade you.

I've just selected a few of my favourite Blair Campbell illustrations that I've come across:

Definitely take a gander at Blair Campbell's work!

Take A Gander Tuesday #3

As some of you may know, sometimes on Tuesday (not every Tuesday), I'll post about a blog or a website that I think you should all know about.  Today I would like to direct your attention to Enid Twiglet's blog and etsy shop.

Why should you check out her blog and store?  Well first and foremost she likes dinosaurs.  If you need other reasons after that, what about this:

Etsy link

 Or this:
Dino Pencil Box Etsy Link
 and how about this:

Howling Wolf Brooch Etsy Link
Her blog is equally as awesome.  It's full of cute outfit posts, pictures from Enid's studio and posts about her birds.  Even though I'm terrified of birds, I can't help but "aww" when I see pictures of Enid's feathery friends especially Nigel.

In other news:

I really wanted to wait until Halloween to post a picture of Arthur in his costume however I couldn't resist trying it on him yesterday.  So cute.

He's the saddest Batman ever.

Take a Gander Tuesday #2

This weeks 'Take a Gander Tuesday' is inspired by a previous blog post when I posted about Kickstarter projects that I was planning on supporting?  Well I've been lurking around the Kickstarter webpage for the past few days and I've come across quite a few cool looking projects  but thought that'd I direct you to David Engledow's World's Best Father Calendar project.

When David's daughter Alice Bee was born he wanted to come up with a creative way to document her childhood with photos she'd treasure as an adult. This 2013 calendar will feature a selection of Engledow's humourous photos.  Here are a few of my favourites:

My dad's a pretty cool guy.  He likes video games and has good taste in music and movies but I don't have childhood photos that are half as cool as the ones of little Alice Bee.  David Engledow is definitely a cool dad!

Take a Gander Tuesday

Oh my goodness it's been awhile since I've made a blog post.  I'm so exhausted from TIFF, I don't understand how people can go to tons of movies and still find the time to post about them-- they're troopers.   I'm going to do a final write-up of some of the highlights but I still need to decompress.

So this is a new thing I'm trying -- it's inspired by my Sponsor Swap post (re: Nicole's blog Happy Pretty Things).  I'm calling it "Take a Gander Tuesday" and I'm going to be writing about various blogs, twitter, or websites I think you should check out.  (Also, I wanted to use the word gander)

Will it happen every Tuesday? Given my track record of creating posts on the proper days, probably not.
Will you only post recommendations on Tuesday? I'm going to try to stick to Tuesday but I can't make any promises. I'm one of those people who feels the need to give people gifts as soon as I purchase them regardless if his/her birthday is weeks away...so if I see something cool, I'm going to want to tell you right away.  In fact, the whole reason I decided to do this post was because I wanted to tell you all about PonyChops.

So why should you take a gander at PonyChops? Two words: Zelda Shoes!

Aren't these amazing! This is only one example of PonyChops' awesome shoes.  You can see the rest of her work on her adorable blog or you can check out her etsy store.

I'm definitely hoping that I can get a pair of shoes.

Hope you're all having a wonderful Tuesday so far.
