Sunglasses!

Hi Everyone!

This past weekend I spent a lot of quality time with Arthur,  but I'll post more about that later this week.  We spent a great deal of time outside and for the majority of the weekend it was quite sunny.

I'm not very careful with sunglasses.  I throw them in my purse and ultimately either the lens will get scratched or the arm will bend.  So every year I'll buy a pair of cheap-ish pair at the beginning of the season but unfortunately this year I've been short on time and unable to find a pair that I like.  So while the sunny weekend was beautiful, a few times I shook my fist towards the sky and cursed not having sunglasses.

So I spent some time yesterday looking on the internet for a pair of sunglasses that might catch my fancy.  I just wanted to share a couple of my favourites with you (not all of these are on the cheaper side):

Mirrored lenses with Wood frames

I'm also really digging some of the sunglasses in Anna Sui's 2013 (particularly these) but I can't seem to find a link to purchase them.

I think the reason I'm being so picky this year is because I absolutely loved the pair from last year.  I'd still be rocking them if the lens didn't fall out....I guess that's the downside to buying cheap shades.

I'm going to need to buy a pair soon and stop being so picky!

Friday Five - May 24, 2013

1. Dewback Dog Costume

Dear Arthur, please prepare yourself because I will be putting this on you once it arrives.

2. Illustrations by Kiersten Essenpreis

Bedtime for Log

3.Superholic - ShirtPunch

I've blogged about the website ShirtPunch before (here), it's a site that sells t-shirts but the designs are only available for one day. The TV ShirtPunch design for today is Super Mario meets Workaholics.

4. Infragram: the Infrared Photography Project on Kickstarter

I love this Kickstarter project.  The Public Laboratory community has created a simple, cheap infrared camera which can measure plant health.  Perfect for gardeners!  I love the way the images look.

5. Dapper Dog Wall Hook

Aw, look at his little monocle.  I think this would be perfect for our front hallway; we could hang Arthur's leash on it.

Happy Friday!

Winter Woofstock

Arthur, Dan and I went to an event called Winter Woofstock this past Saturday.  What is Winter Woofstock you ask?  It's a large festival for doggies and their owners.  There's a ton of vendor booths selling/showcasing a wide range of products or services.  I get to shop while Arthur meets dogs, it's a perfect outing.

I really wish that I didn't still feel so sick because I would have brought my camera with me -- I just wasn't feeling up to lugging it around.  I did see a lot of cute dogs and two French Bulldog puppies.  We also saw Rick Mercer in the parking garage as his vehicle was parked by our car.  He and his crew were getting ready to go into the event to film a segment for his show Rick Mercer Report -- they were talking about Star Trek.

Although I didn't get any pictures of the event, I found Arthur's Christmas sweater and I wanted to share.   I'm so pleased with it -- it's exactly what I was looking for and it fits him perfectly (it's hard to find clothes that fit Frenchies).  Also, he got a lot of exercise at the event so he was tuckered out and wanted to cuddle the rest of the afternoon.  It was like cuddling a stuffed French Reindog.

Happy Monday

Friday Five Fave - October 12th

It's time for another Friday Five Fave!

1. Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, and Colin Farrell Reading Excerpts from Honey Boo Boo

So if you've ever wanted to hear Christopher Walken read the words "Vajiggle Jaggle" then this is the video for you.  I love Colin Farrell's interpretation of Honey Boo Boo's sister and that Sam Rockwell randomly switched over to a British accent when reading Honey Boo Boo's part.  Could not stop laughing.

The down side of this video is you have to witness the Boo Boo Family secret "sketti" recipe.  I had the misfortune of seeing this episode when it originally ran and almost threw up in my mouth.  The second time seeing it was equally disgusting, if not more because at the end you get to watch the host shovel it into his face hole.

I'm pear shaped, aka I have a rather large bottom and thighs, so I typically stick to A-line or flared skirts/dresses but for some reason I've been gravitating towards shift dresses this season.  I LOVE this dress from Doubledutch Boutique.  So pretty.

3. My Teeth

I was so excited that I got to keep the teeth that were cast to make my night guard.  Like insanely excited -- my reaction got a few weird looks at the dentist's office.  It's perfect timing too! I'm just going to put them on my desk at work and say it's a Halloween decoration.

Eee! Just look at him, he's all lazy, huggy, and smiley.  I love dinosaurs; I used to want to be a paleontologist until I realized I'd have to sit around in the dirt all day.  I also love sterling silver jewellery, particularly rings, so this is practically made for me.

5. Michael Wandelmaier

I don't know how I came across the illustrations of Michael Wandelmaier but I love them, plus his formal training was as a civil engineer and geologist.  He just decided to pursue art, which is the opposite (kind of, I'm not an engineer or geologist) of what I did.  Went to school for art and now I work...let's just say it's in the business world.

Happy Friday Everyone!  I'm so exhausted today, I wish I was at home sleeping.

Friday Five Fave

I was hoping to post two adorable videos I took of Arthur from when we visited him at the breeder's house but for some reason Vimeo keeps uploading them sideways.  So instead here's a Friday Five Fave.

In no particular order:

1. Melanie Martinez - Toxic
I don't watch a ton of TV and when I do it's usually cartoons or HBO's Girls, but I happened to be flicking channels and stumbled across the show The Voice while Melanie Martinez was performing.  Holy crap, what an adorable human being and I absolutely loved her version of Britney Spears’s Toxic.  Click here if you want to give it a listen.

 2. French Bulldog Address Stamps
Man do I ever want this address stamp from Lush Prints! The only problem is my partner and I have different last names, so do I put mine or his?

3. Red Riding Hood Tights
I honestly don't know how I happened across these tights but they're super adorable.  They feature Little Read Riding Hood, the Big Bad Wolf, Granny's cottage, and the woods.
4. DrinKlip
This is kind of cheating because I've had this product for quite some time but I really love it.  It's attached to my desk at work and it's perfect for my morning tea or coffee.  I never have to worry about knocking my drink all over my documents.  Although one time I forget it was attached to the desk and I walked into it and spilled my drink on the floor.  It also doesn't really work if you have a mug with a handle.  But it's still really awesome.

5. Vegan Pumpkin Scones
This vegan pumpkin scone recipe from Cupcakes & Kale is incredibly delicious.  I used different flour just because I didn't have whole wheat pastry flour on hand but they still turned out and made my belly happy.

Arthur and I are looking forward to some quality hanging out time tomorrow.  Do you have anything planned for this weekend?
