Friday Five - Dad Edition

Is everybody ready for Father's Day?  I am now that I remembered it's this weekend (oops!).  At least I remember before the actual day...that's counts for something, right?

Anyways, I've been searching online for gift ideas and I want to share some of favourite ideas that I found.

1. Tool Box Card

What a fantastic idea for a father's day card, and it looks very easy to make.

2. Tactical BBQ Apron

Who wouldn't like being prepared for any type of BBQ situation?

3. Broken Windshield Tie by Cyberoptix

You can't go wrong with the classic tie.  I've purchased a few Cyberoptix ties before for Dan, and I've been really impressed with the vibrancy of the colours.  A lot of the designs are bold graphic prints but I really quite like this subtle design of a light blue with lighter blue ink.

4. Tea Aficionado by David's Tea

I'm pretty sure David's Tea released this tea set for last year's fathers day, so I don't believe it's currently available.  I wanted to include it regardless because I think the cigar case is such a neat idea.  Also the teas sound delicious- Buttered Rum, Brazillionaire (with coconut, raisins and Brazil nuts,) and Whiskey White (a white tea with peach, macadamia nuts, lily flowers and a shot of flavoring).

I wish I saw this set last year because it would be perfect for my dad -- he's a huge tea lover.

5. Beer Soap

The alcohol is removed from the beer prior to it being made from soap.  The beer is combined with natural oils, essential oils and top shelf fragrances.   The soap comes in a corrugated cardboard gift box packed with wood savings...can't get manlier than that.

Friday Five - June 7th, 2013

 1. Vegan Animal Cracker Truffles

Say WHAT??????  These look similar to the cookie dough truffles I posted here but with cream cheese and desecrated animal crackers.

I'm adding these to my must try list.

2. Adorable Felt pieces by Clairey Lou Creations

Check out these super cute felt creations in Clairey Lou Creations' etsy shop.

3. Milk Bottle Measuring cups from Anthropologie

It's cute and saves space which, as a condo dweller, is very important to me.

This week I had to design a summer newsletter for my work and I decided that "Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlours" would be my inspiration.  A google search turned up a post by Amy Moss on her blog Eat Drink Chic.  She designed a "Make Your Own Sundae" buffet, which first, is an awesome idea for a party.  Second, her designs are beautiful.  Here are just a few pictures:

A theme started developing as I to began compile my list of five favourites.  I guess thanks to that newsletter I had summer on my mind.

I love how the popsicle stick can be removed or used as a stand.

Friday Five - May 24, 2013

1. Dewback Dog Costume

Dear Arthur, please prepare yourself because I will be putting this on you once it arrives.

2. Illustrations by Kiersten Essenpreis

Gozer at the Dog Park
Bedtime for Log

Alien takes Jonesy to the Vet

3.Superholic - ShirtPunch

I've blogged about the website ShirtPunch before (here), it's a site that sells t-shirts but the designs are only available for one day. The TV ShirtPunch design for today is Super Mario meets Workaholics.

4. Infragram: the Infrared Photography Project on Kickstarter

I love this Kickstarter project.  The Public Laboratory community has created a simple, cheap infrared camera which can measure plant health.  Perfect for gardeners!  I love the way the images look.

5. Dapper Dog Wall Hook

Aw, look at his little monocle.  I think this would be perfect for our front hallway; we could hang Arthur's leash on it.

Happy Friday!
